WNL Tier 1 February Qualifier / Scramble!

Tier 1
Scramble Course Format
Get ready for something new! We are working with the WNL and the Canadian Ninja League (CNL) to bring you a new and exciting competition format called Scramble. The CNL developed this format, and they have been using it for a couple of seasons now. We are working with them to host it under the WNL umbrella for the first time ever at Life Force Ninja. Here are some key points with the Scramble format:
- It will be a WNL Tier 1 competition, with league points and regional qualifying spots just like a normal WNL qualifier.
- There will be five short courses setup in the gym.
- You will get a quick walkthrough of each course, then athletes will go directly to the start of the courses and we’ll start the runs. You don’t get course planning time with this format, and that’s part of the challenge!
- Athletes in each wave all run at the same time, and are given at least 30 minutes to run the courses as many times as they can.
- Each course is scored separately based on your time from start to finish. There are no individual obstacle points on the courses.
- Times are recorded at the end of each course. If you redo the course and get a faster time, the new time is recorded.
- If you fail or reach the time cap on any course, you must exit that course and go back to the start, or find a different course to run.
- There is no limit to the number of times you can fail, and no limit to the number of attempts you can have on any of the courses.
- Each course will have time brackets for Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Platinum is worth 20 points, Gold is 15 points, Silver is 10 points, and Bronze is 5 points. For example, sub 10 seconds = Platinum, 10.01 – 14.00 sec = Gold, 14.01 – 17.00 sec = Silver, 17.01 – 24.00 sec = Bronze. Exact time brackets will vary across courses and athlete divisions.
- Times for all athletes are displayed so they can see which courses they need to go faster on.
- Final scoring is based on how many points you get across all five courses. Tie breakers come down to the sum of their fastest course times across all five courses.
This is a great competition format for beginners, as it is low pressure and you get to retry the courses as many times as you can in 30 minutes. You get a LOT of time on obstacles compared to more traditional single course run formats. It’s also super fun for more experienced athletes – go for those big skips and see how much you can push your speed!
Our event age groups and timing are listed below (the participant’s age as of Jan. 1, 2026 determines which age category they fall into).
Awards will be handed out after each course wave. Prizes will be awarded to top three finishers in every age/gender division.
